Last night was Kaitlyn's open house at her school. She had fun showing us all around the school and different things in her classroom. I was very impressed by how hard she had been working on her handwriting and she is natural at math just like her Daddy. After open house she had to go out on the playground to show us her "tricks" she knows. Such a big girl. I just love the picture of her hanging upside down. Grant had fun playing on all the toys with Kaitlyn. Next year we will have open house for Grant for kindergarten! Time sure flys...

Tooth fairy visit

Kaitlyn pulled one of her top teeth out on the way to town on Wednesday. It had been loose for about a week. She is so grown up. She did panic for a bit when it first came out and then she was proud of losing her first top tooth. Of course the tooth fairy came to visit the next morning. As Kaitlyn was counting up her money from the tooth fairy she asked me what happened to all the teeth. I told her I think the tooth fairy takes them. Kaitlyn told me that she thinks the teeth get recycled and that she bets the tooth fairy has a teeny tiny voice. That is my girl, always thinking and wondering!

The newest cousin

Kaitlyn finally got to meet her cousin officially on Sunday. She was so cute. When she saw Skylee my mom said that Kaitlyn said "oh, I didn't expect this" (I think she meant because Skylee is so small)

Construction zone

Kasey spend last Saturday breaking up the concrete behind our house. When we first moved in our house we didn't have any yard, pasture established or anything. Outside our house was simply weeds. So when we put in a lawn and started watering the back patio started cracking and sloping towards the house. Come to find out there was no rebar in the concrete so it just was causing water to run toward and underneath our house. The loader from Kasey's work was perfect and we didn't have to do much moving concrete by hand. Will be nice in a few weeks to have it repoured and done the right way. We are extending the back patio towards the shop also.

Trampoline

Yes, we broke down and got a trampoline for the kids. We have been trying to find a good used one for a while and this one was FREE! A good sturdy one also. The kids spend hours every evening and on weekends playing on it.

One happy girl

In May we gave away the old swing set. It was a Little Tykes kind that we got when Kaitlyn was little and both the kids had outgrown it. It was a bit sentimental when the guy came to get it as I remember putting it together when we first moved in our house and I was 6 months pregnant with Grant.

So we dusted off the big swing set that Justin and I had when we were little. It is very sturdy and just needed a new coat of paint. Kaitlyn and Grant spend all evening outside now playing on it. I think it is going to be around for my grandkids also.

Riding the horse

After watching the rodeo Kaitlyn is now into rounding up the cows when she rides the horse. The cows are fairly tame and used to us being out in the pasture so it is cute. She does a pretty good job too! Think I have a rodeo girl on my hands. She loves to make the horse trot and gallop around the pasture.

Grant's toy

Grant had fun playing on his little 50 when Kaitlyn was swinging. I had to tell him to watch the turns as he is still learning to not take them at a high speed. The kids got the sled out so I hooked up the rope and they took turns riding around the yard. It actually pulled them pretty good. Kasey's four wheeler was broke down or else I would have used that instead.

Last weekend on Saturday night we headed over to Jolene & Audey's to spend the night. It was fun hanging out with them and went to breakfast with Kris, Jamie, Taylor, Carson & Ava. We don't get to see them very often so was nice to chat for a bit and the kids got to see their cousins. After breakfast Taylor came back to Jolene & Audey's with us to play for bit with Kaitlyn & Grant. Jolene has a huge garden this year and she planted some really tall sunflowers that were over 8 feet tall. They were so beautiful against the backdrop of the blue sky.

It was my birthday last week so we had a wonderful BBQ at my parents house. I also got a brand new camera! Wahoo!! As most of you know, my old digital camera was on it's way to the garbage. It didn't cooperate with taking pictures as it took a long time to focus, the pictures were a bit grainy, it turned off by itself even with new batteries, and it was just old technology as it was about three years old. So my fancy dancy new digital is simply amazing. takes awesome pictures and I just love it. All I do know is that I am blessed with amazing family and friends.

Kaitlyn is now in 1st grade. Here is a cute picture of the kids yesterday. Kaitlyn said that school was good and she played with all of her girlfriends from kindergarden. Kaitlyn has also come down with a cold. the poor girl started her 1st day of school with a sore throat. So between a cold and her day at school she was a tired one last night. Grant is going to Debbie's which he loves. Kaitlyn now catches the school bus from Debbie's on the days Grant goes to daycare. Today was the day to try out the school bus. One of the older daycare kids rides the bus also so they got on and sat in the same seat.

Five things...

The criteria: Name five things that you can't live without. It can't be a person, it has to be something material that actually makes your life easier. It can't be something in general, it must be exact.

1. Dishwasher! Our first house we bought when was 5 months pregnant. I told my husband I was not living there with a newborn and no dishwasher.

2. Cell phone. Just makes me available all the time in case of emergency with my family or friends. Other than that I could really live without it.

3. washer/dryer… again a working moms must! Imagine having to do everything by hand. Wow… Now if only they invent a machine that takes clothes out of the dryer and folds them.

4. my Tahoe—we are always on the go. And living 12 miles out of town it is not like I am going to ride my bike on errands. I love being able to go visit friends and family if I want to and have a dependable vehicle. And with a 3rd row of seats it can haul my kid's friends around also.

5. Coffee maker—have to have at least one cup of coffee in the morning. Didn’t used to even like coffee until I became a parent. I think no sleep and parenthood are related.
