Sportsman's Show

Saturday my Dad and I took the kids to the Sportsman's show. There was a trout pond for the kids to fish in too (no catch and release either). So I told the kids if they caught the fish I would cook them. In not too much time they had landed two nice trout. The kid even got to tie their own flies for fishing. The instructor was very patient and the kids were so proud.

That evening my parents came over for dinner and we had trout, clams, shrimp, mussels (dipped in real butter of course, no better way!) and steak for dinner. Anyone who knows my kids knows that they are total seafood kids. Grant says when he grows up he wants to live by the ocean and eat seafood. Kaitlyn didn't have a soccer game on Sunday due the the three day weekend but we are back to soccer games this week. Kasey and the kids all had the day off yesteday however I did have to work...

Weekend Away

Last weekend Kasey and I decided we just needed a weekend out of town with the kids. So I made reservations at a hotel for the night and we headed over after I got off work on Friday. Kaitlyn and Grant are water bugs for sure and enjoyed the hotel swimming pool. In the morning we headed to the Boat Show. It was nice to wander around and look in all the boats. Kasey was very patient with me and the kids as I wanted to go and look at all the "lottery boats". Of course you had to take your shoes off to even step foot on them. They had washer/dryers, full oven, three staterooms, two bathrooms and were on sale for only $993,000. A deal?!

After that, we wandered down to the more realistically priced boats. Everyone was into the fancy ski boats it seemed however they are not pratical for families whatsoever. There is no room in them! We found a boat that we both liked and both decided that new is not for us, and we need one that would function well in salt water and fresh water We would rather find a good used one and use our money wiser. With the market the way it is a new boat is impraticial and not a good choice.

In the afternoon we went to visit Kasey's Grandma Clara at his Uncle David's house. She has been sick for a while so it was a blessing to get to spend a few hours visiting. She is 80 and the mother of 10 children! She is simply an amazing woman.

We took the kids to the Aquarium on our way home. Kaitlyn's favorite was the tide pool where you could touch the starfish and Grant liked the Octopus.

Fieldtrip to visit the Elk

On Wednesday Kaitlyn's class went to watch the DFW feed the elk. My Dad, Grant and I joined in the fieldtrip. It was a warm morning (for this time of year!) and the kids got a chance to see the elk and ask questions.

Catching up

I have been so far behind on my posts so I promise to gradually catch up. Such is the life of a full time working mommy!! The month of January has flown by and it is almost Valentines Day already!! Kaitlyn is on an indoor soccer league and is doing such a great job. ( The pictures take a bit dark because it is inside the gym ) It is a blast to watch all the girls as about 1/2 of the girls on the teams have not played soccer before. So as long as the ball is in motion it really doesn't matter which way it is going! LOL Such a time for learning and fun, and no pressure on how many points each team has. The coaches are good about rotating the girls so they get to practice being goalie and the other positions throughout the game.
